Today's Absurdities

Thanks to the Pedant, this is absolutely bizarre.

I mean, it is bizarre without him, but he sent it to me.

For the record, I also love Obama (although not really in a physical way), but after a conversation with CJ I am seriously worried about his lack of experience. He's a junior senator who was elected when it came to light that Jack Ryan is a skeezy guy who forced his wife to go to strip clubs. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of his abilities. Although his name is significantly more awesome than that of any other candidate.

I'm giving it one week, tops, before the inevitable "I Got A Crush On Hilary" spoof put up by a bald and overweight dude.

Ew. Who has a crush on Hilary? Certianly not Bill.

Obama has about the same experience as JFK or Teddy Roosevelt, unless you include wartime experience.

Also: one-term Congressman and failed senatorial candidate Abraham Lincoln. What was his political experience? Working as a railroad lawyer?

Lincoln was also a soldier, but far less impressively than JFK or TR.

Thank you The Pedant. -TR

Also, I just recognized that a lot of this is filmed on the Columbia campus! Figures.

Pedant- yeah, but no wartime experience is a big deal, and statescraft was different then.
And for the record, Lincoln ran for election several times before finally winning.

Nevermind, it is Columbus Circle, and she is the girl from "box in a box" so she went to UPenn. Nice Jewish girl named Leah Kauffman.

Yeah, and she's not the same one in the video.

Yes, I've been researching this all morning.

EV- I am pretty sure that she is, I got to her website from www.barelypolitical.com

Actually, she's not. She's got her own website and a "news" section where Keith Olbermann interviews both the singer/songwriter herself and the lip-synching model in that video. And the lip-synching model in the Obama video doesn't look like either of them.

It was funny to watch Kauffman's reactions to Olbermann's approach to the interview, as he underplayed the risque element of her satire in favor of gushing like a kid in a candy shop, over what ostensibly amounted to their new careers and fame, and as if the sexed-up song and performance was not the primary impetus behind their 15 minutes. Understandably, the artist likely saw something completely new to satirize in his misplaced, if overly enthusiastic expressions, and it showed in her own reactions.
